Tesfa means hope in Amharic, a language spoken in Ethiopia. In honor of the Ethiopian-born children of one of our founding members, we were inspired to choose this universally powerful word to represent our school’s vision for all children. Hope is more than an emotion, it is a way of thinking or a cognitive process. It is made up of goals, pathways and perseverance. We know that children can succeed with effort, high expectations and rich, authentic learning experiences. Our hope is to institute transformational change in education. We dream for a school environment that allows children to be their authentic selves.
This hope has given us the courage to create an educational environment that offers rich, authentic learning experiences, taught by adults with growth mindsets resulting in high expectations for each and every child.
